Buffalo Immigrant Leadership Team

BILT is a group of immigrants and refugees who are taking leadership positions to influence public policy and create just and equitable systems for our families.

In 2016 and 2017, BILT created powerful new relationships in the Buffalo Public School system. We won some significant victories, including the expansion of hours at Lafayette Community School from two nights to three nights a week; this allows students, parents, and neighbors to have greater access to tutoring, ESL, and parenting groups. BILT is also working to increase cultural sensitivity, advocate for fair and appropriate disciplinary procedures and greater parent leadership in our public schools.

Upcoming Event:

BILT Community Celebration

March 10th, 4-7pm

O'Brien Center at Our Lady of Hope Church

(corner of Lafayette and Grant Streets)
